Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my rear light on the left side. Whenever I turn on my indicator, my brakelight and normal light start flashing. But when I hit the brake while having my indicator on, the indicator itself starts blinking really fast. I have no idea what could cause this. A friend of my thought it could be earthproblems. But I have no idea where they are connected to the car. I tried to trace them but I couldn't find them.

Anyone with a solution?

Tom

i had the exact same problem on my car when it just went into it's MOT, the guys said they'd fix it but unsure what exactly they did, now when i have the indicator on the rear red sidelight still flashes but a lot more feint and less obvious,

i've read somewhere its a good idea to clean the bulb connections with emery cloth, as well as the earthing point by the light cluster

also heard it's caused by water getting in behind the light cluster,

hope that sheds some light on things :)

I removed the unit a few hours ago. There was some dirt behind it but not much. The connector seemed fine but tommorow I will try to clean it. I will also clean the bulbconnections. Do you know where the earthingpoint is located? I tried to find it but I didn't see it anywhere. I really want to solve this problem but i'm afraid if I take my car to the shop, it will cost me al lot (I have the feeling i always get screwed at the shop)

the earthing point should be a bolt roundabout the lower part of the rear right light cluster, in side the boot, i'll see if i can take a pic of it for you, my cameras battery is a bit hopeless tho, lasts about 5 seconds on a full charge,

edit: sorry there's an earthing point in the same place for both lights, you need to take the rubber weather gasket away from the metal and pull the carpet back a little, i've got a picture i'll upload it in a bit

You'll find the earthing Pin on the Cluster itself and the connector will possibly be the problem

Had it happen several times

pop the light cluster off- give all the pins a good clean with some wet and dry (make em shiny :) ) and Clean then with Contact cleaner

And refit tight

make sure the Seal for the light clusters aint leaking either :)

Thank you very much, I will give it a go this afternoon. With the picture you uploaded it should work.

I will post here if it worked.

Thanks a lot guys!
