Hey a couple weeks ago some **** broke into my 2000 Punto ELX, apparently used a screwdriver to pop the lock out and get in and proceeded to not take anything, despite the sat-nav sitting on the dash. It was still working up until a few days ago and now just turns and turns and turns with no effect, have to use the passenger door to get in and open driver's door as the central locking now doesn't work on it either.

Anyway, anybody able to help on what the easiest way to fix the issue is? Replacing the one lock? Or the whole system? Just parts of the driver's side? I've no idea I'm afraid.

Thanks in advance, Dan.

The lock cylinder sits in what I think is a nylon or plastic jacket and is then held to the door skin with a circlip, some or all of this backing sounds broken, and that probably means the central locking wiring connectors have come off too.
You need to take of the internal door trim and door card to get at the lock, you also need to take off the anti theft plate (assuming your model has one fitted) by drilling out the rivets. Replace the broken parts and reassemble. The cylinder is a simple wafer lock and you should be able to use your existing one providing it is servicable so that you can continue to use the same key.
