I make that about 36 mpg mate. However....the only really accurate way to do this is to brim the tank, reset your trip, drive a load of miles then brim the tank again.

Litres to Gallons....multiply the amount of litres by 0.22 = Gallons. Then of course divide the distance you've driven by gallons used :)

My little car does between 46-50 mpg more or less everywhere, round town or motorway. I do go pretty steady but with the odd bout of enthusiasm lol. Its serviced lots and tyres at 30psi all round.

Hope this helps mate :)

thanks going to service it this weekend sparks plug/ oil/ oil filter/ air filter is there anything else i need?

All I could add to your list of service items mate is coolant unless you know its been done?

50/50 mix with distilled water or maybe the 5 year red stuff should do the trick mate :)

One other thing to consider maybe is your timing belt. Again, unless you know when it was done you should maybe pop it on your shopping list for another day :)

Either way, good luck with it mate :)

i brought the car 6months ago and asked him when was the cambelt last changed he said he didnt know so i got him put another 1

On the 8v its supposed to be not as bigger problem if it breaks as the 16v ie, no valves will touch. But for your own piece of mind its well worth doing one day :)

Kits all over egay but you can get some discount if you donate to this forum I believe and try shop4parts as they do genuine parts.

Well worth doing a search on here as lots have written some great advice. All I would add is, dont be tempted to have the belt too tight and use the timing marks on the new belt as its so much easier that way :)

As I say though, search well worth doing and maybe if you can get hold of a manual too.

Good luck mate.

thanks for your advice mate i seen a kit on ebay fram brand 4 spark plug oil and air filter 21quid plus p&p

Ignore the trip its always overdoing the mpg. The only accurate way is zero the trip, fuel brim to brim and work out the miles to fuel added.

heres a photo of the spark plugs i took out

You have slight carbon fouling on 2 of them, could be running a little rich, could just be old and need replacing, nothing major. Check your air filter/renew it. Inspect and clean your throttle body and airbox. Check your lambda operation if you still experience low mpg.

Around 8 miles / litre...

Also make sure your tyre pressures are correct, especially if the car has bigger or / and wider wheels fitted. Oh & never ignore weight in the boot & open windows, air conditioning & lights... all these will hit economy.
