looking for a smaller car as a runabout to replace my volvo 850,had a chance of a brava 1.4 but after seeing the scare stories on this forum decided against it.i have seen a punto 60s 1998 r plate advertised with low mileage(dont know the mileage yet)going to go and have a look.any good or bad points with this car i should look for and is it an economical car.all advice welcome cheers.

no take punto, if you get a brava get the 1.2,
look for all the normal things same as any other car, headgasket (lots of mayo in oil cap.blue smoke), signs of clocking (worn seats, pedle rubbers, shiny steering wheel) make sure all the panels line up nice an proper.

If the cars only used as a runabout, the smaller, more economical Punto has to be the best bet! And imo the Punto has more style

If you can find an SX or even an ELX model, its well worth the extra few bob over the S, you get such luxuries as a temperature gauge and electric windows

same garage now has a punto 85sx 1999 t plate with 49k miles for £1895.it is a five door.i am tempted to go for this car if the deal is right.should it have had a timing belt change or will it be due.

Keep an eye out in local private ads too
