General Punto ELX Radio Check Error

Hi all,
I recently purchased Punto (2001) model but having trouble with the Radio. Whenever I turn ON the radio it shows up "Check" and I don't have a clue what it is and how to sort it out. Somebody please help me.

I'm sorry I can't help but just wanted to say I've bought the same model and year car as you and mine says the same when u turn it on... 'check' (which i presume means searching for signal or something) and about 8 times out of ten it comes straight on but some times it stays frozen on 'check' like it can't find a station, I have to keep pressing all the buttons and eventually it comes on.

Is it asking for the radio code? have you disconnected the battery?

All it shows up is "Check" when I turn ON the radio button and what is it about the battery?

you need to take radio out of dash and look for a small yellow canbus lead to plug in
then assuming your new radio is compatable ie low or high it should then come up with asking for the code or if its the radio that came with the car but been removed for whatever reason then it can sometimes just recognise it without inputting the code
