Guys,
I.ve got a 51 plate 1.2 8 valve punto and was thinking of drilling the aibox. I was considering drilling at the front, but this would mean sucking in air from above the manifold where I would imagine it gets rather hot... (another cold air feed from the bumper do the trick?)

Anyone tried this on same motor?

any help much appreciated.

drilling your airbox will NOT give u any power gains, just more of a roar (especially if u have a performance zorst).

however if u must drill it, as evil-punto says, drill the front.

I wouldn't deface the airbox if i were you. I would just get an induction kit and do away with the big pan on the top. The whole airbox gets very hot on the top of the engine so if you get an induction kit and duct the cold air in from the front of the car onto the filter then you will see some gains.
