First to say hello to everyone since I'm new arrond here.

Just recently ( 4 months ago ) I bought 1997. Fiat Punto Sporting
1.2 16v and I'm having some problems.
Sometimes engine just dies. It usually happens with engine warmed,
not fully, but warmed, and with engine idling. Then sometimes I have to wait
a minute or so and it starts and sometimes it takes longer.
But if I try to push the car and start without starter ( second gear and
release the clutch ) it starts immediately.

Did anyone have problems like this?
What could be the problem?

Thanks.

Do you think the engine needs tuning?

I know on my old MK1 Punto after 3 years of owning it it started to almost feel like the engine would stop when slowing down to go around corners, had it tunes by a local car clinic for about £30 and was much better and saved me money on fuel too as I got more MPG's

I never had this problem when engine is cold.
In the morning it starts right on.

Plugs and wires are a few months old so I don't think that the
problem is there.

I checked yesterday when I cought it in state when it won't start and
there is NO spark when this happens.

And after a few minutes it starts normally.
When engine is running it pulls great and there is no problem in that part.

I even noticed once that engine stopped when I was driving in 3rd gear
but it stopped only for a second ( or less ) and than it started again
(like it was push started ) and went on normally.

I found the problem. Bad crank position sensor ( CKP ).
When it warms up sometimes it just stops giving signal
to the ECM.
