Hi just a bit of help needed here really

I'v a mk2 Punto, Unfortunatly i have 3 stripped wheel pins. Iv took off the wheel, the break pads and the hub, then behind the hub you have some kind of flange that you screw the wheel pins into (tapped holes).

Now i cant get the (flange is it??) off, it seems there is a big M 24? Bolt holding it in place with a washer, the bolt wont budge. It seens there is some kind of thing stopping it from turning, i have no idea, perhaps someone knows how to get it off? I dont even know what its called, as i need to get a replacment for it, any help would be great, thanks

That big "nut" in the middle is very tight
And the Bolt also has its sides Punched in - to prevent is coming loose easily

So the Pinch's need to be Tapped out with a Small screwdriver and hammer
And a Breaker bar will also be probably needed to release it too

the Haynes mentions using a friend to press on the brake Pedal to hold the brake disc still while you remove it
But as said - you've taken then off - so it might be a little bit more of a fight
Might have to put the caliper and brakes back on to undo it

Ziggy

Thanks ziggy. Do you know the name of the part that i have to replace and roughly how much it may cost?

You will need a new wheel flange as the threads cant be trusted any more.

If its the back wheel you need a new hub assembly make sure you get the ABS or non ABS as needed for the car. To get the retaining nut off you will need a long breaker bar and just heave. There is no need to use the brake. At the front you need the brake pressed hard and again a big breaker bar. Always replace (and stake) the retaining nuts. Fiat used thread lock so I did too on mine.

If its the front you will also need a new wheel bearing kit and a new drive flange. The old bearing will get damaged trying to remove it so you need the whole set.

Yeah it is the front, i was a little scared to put too much pressure onto the nut just incase i broke somthing, but now i understand i need to bar it off. Cheers for that.

Diddn't realise i'd break my bearing doing this? Im guessing the wheel bearing is behind the wheel flange?

Also - is this flange going to slide off nice and easily, or am i going to need some kind of tool to remove it - presumably a massive sledge hammer?

I've not done a front but was told the bearing comes off the car OK but its pressed onto the flange so bearing and/or flange gets wrecked getting it off. Make sure you get the correct type (ABS or not). Flange about £15 bearings vary £20 to £50.
