I need to replace the cupholder part of the centre console in my mk2, which separates from the rest. I managed to get one this morning from a scrap yard but the whole console needed removing to get to it.

I took the allen bolts out around the bottom... the sides popped out ok, but the top wouldn't come away very easy. I ended up having to force it off.

Obviously, I don't want to be forcing the console out of my own car. How exactly is it supposed to come off?

the top comes out first followed by the bottom. if you do it your way round you will end up snaping it!
