I've got a mk2 3dr punto and i need to remove the rear lights,
the haynes manual says you need a "special tool" to remove the bolts, unfortunatly my spare wheel holder doesn't have the tool in it.
is there any other tools that will do the same job ? as i dont have the tool i dont have anything to compare it too
thanks :)

i believe the special tool is the wheel nut wrench in the spare wheel, well that fits mine anyway if not as said a socket wrench fits or you can use pliers just be careful not to bed the metal

the "tool" they refer to is the lil grey plastic thing in the tool kit. a normal socket set will do the job tho, its how i did mine. just be careful not to drop the nut. ;)

i lost a socket in the void of no return a few weeks back so be careful out there:eek:
dont know why some people do these so tight:eek:
just wish they would be so keen on keeping their tyres as legal;)

I dropped the nut once...it is possible to retrieve :D

Blue tack on the end of an unwound wire coat hanger should do the trick lol

I tried with my hand, too tight i'm afraid !
never the less i'll give it a go with a socket when i get a chance, thanks for the help

When I had to change a rear bulb I saw the void of no return and though with my clumsy luck the tool would disappear.

So before using it I tied a longish piece of string on it; after I had finished I just pushed it back into its space in the spare wheel thingy complete with the string still attached, ready for next time.

Oh yeah, another point to remember - if you have the factory fitted sub, then you need to remove it (easy enough to do - just screwed in) before you can reach the bottom nut on the NS.

Hey guys, I dropped the plastic tool in the void... Is there anyway to get it out?

The nut i can understand but the tool?
Wire coat hanger / chewing gum on end/bluetack

Try and hook it / stick and pull it up again

Its just a 17mm sockey with an adaptor to allow a screwdriver to be used when out on the road....
Failing that - go scrappies...
