Technical weird knocking noise (Not the engine)

hello again,

I seem to hear a strange knocking sound coming from underneath the drivers side of the car (Front and rear) especially when i move off too quickly (Haven't mastered the clutch yet! New driver!!).
This doesn't effect the driving at all but it bugs me!! (Easily annoyed!).
Has anyone got any ideas what it could be??
MOT is due in a few months so i wanna fix any issues before then.
Any help'd be great.

engine/gearbox mount, or it could be the handbrake cable. Ive seen many a punto on the m'way with its handbrake cable hanging down!

get a friend to bring it to the biting point with the hand brake up while you look at the engine, if there is excessive play in the engine movement then a mount may have gone (one left on the engine, one right on the gearbox and one underneath attached to the gearbox again)..

i get a noise from drivers side when i accelerate from a stand still. it sound more like a vibrating than a knock though... i don't know whether it's behind the dash or under the bonnet

Could be front or rear arms.

hello all,

After listening to the noise for 30 mins with no radio, have found the noise happens only at certain times. VERY bumpy roads (but not speed bumps??) and in gears 1+2 if i try and pull off too quickly.
Asked a mate who is a former Trainee Mechanic and he said it could be loose exhaust pipe, as i cna hear it in 1+2 only.
Will see how it goes for the next few days, and it'll go down to my Mechanic's if it has anymore problems.

my mk3 punto has the same problem. Apparently it's soemthign to do with a dodgy clutch (search for posts on here somewhere about them).

Mine does it now and again (randomly) when you set off in 1st or second gear, and the car feels like it judders, and makes on hell of a banging side - seems to tally up here. Im waiting to get my clutch replaced under warranty, so take it to a dealer and they will confirm it's a dodgy clutch - i dont know how much they are to buy though! :-S

Just to update you all!

Me and my mum's fella took the car out over the wekend, and found the fault!!

It is a loose bracket on the exhaust pipe, underneath the car, just to the right of centre, so when it knock's i can sometimes feel it on my foot, he proved it by knocing it on the floor when i sat in it and i felt the same knock!
