Just wondering if any one could give me some advice on getting my standard head unit out my mk2 punto, iv got some keys that apparently work for it. it's the standard blaupunkt head unit... just need some advice on getting it out another way.

Cheers

will.

Which Keys you got
The 2 Metal Prongs
or the 2 metal Tongues?

Normally you just tools in and yank the whole lot out

Ziggy

It's like to metal prongs, but they go like flat at the end, i just thought like when you put them in it would push the unit out but it has'nt i cant even locate the clips =/ (n)

if all else fails... hammer. :D

or, in the unlikely case of the "key" not working, try it with a strong coat hanger bent in a suitable shape to fit in both holes. the best way is to use the keys at the same time, one in each side and give it a good push in. it will come out, just puts up a fight sometimes.

the 2 metal prongs go in - easy then go firm, push them a little more in
And usually that locks the Pins in place on the stereo allowing you to lift the stereo out

When you get the prongs in - wiggle the stereo via the Keys and see if that helps

usually its a very tight fit

Ziggy

Hmm soo push the keys in as far as i can bassicly ? and it should pop out it moves around but just wont pull out.

Lol yea i was thinking a hammer and a flat headed screw driver, but thought id leave it for another day as i was gettin rather angry with it :p

Ill give the coat hanger a try, i just dont want to end up taking it to a garage for something as simple as that, becasue i know it'll just end up costing loads and they'll end up saying "weve got to take out the dash" rubbish.

I wouldn't even pull it out! Leave it as is, and put your new unit further down the console. This space is where the 5 disc changer would be. Looks much better IMO

Hmm... Rather just put the other unit in lol.

Cheers anyways man ! :)

nah actives dont have that extra din slot, hmm yea i had thought about going to my fiat dealer ship ? or do you think that would be costly lol.

Push the prongs in each side, should feel a click when theres only about half an inch of the prongs sricking out. It should then just pull out.
Its took me a couple of goes to get them to lock in but normally does!!
