can anybody tell me how to remove the alternator from mk2 sporting ?

i have the protective cover off from around the belt, now what ?

This guide of the 1.4 16v (similar apprently to the 1.2 16v)
Shows that the Belt for the alternator is off the Phonic Wheel
It also turns the Generator the AC and has a tensioner there too

cheers for that lad but i think (but not 100%) thats its different.
my alternator, and i thought most cars, is at the top of the engine,
the diagram shows the alternator to be at the bottom under the air con unit.

maybe iam looking at it wrong but thats what iam seeing.
plus it doesnt really help me as to just saying, '2x 17mm bolts and thats it'
need to get it off tomorrow and tempted to get the angle grinder :bang:

Alternator has a fan on the drive end and wires coming out of the back end.

tried again tomight to get it off but no joy.
spend about 10 minutes at it in the dark and pissing rain......no thanks.
though it would be a simple 2 bolt job :bang:
