Right i give up i really do... got rid of the big 17'' alloys got some 15'' sporting alloys all seemed fine went and got the car tracked cause the car was driving to the right beforehand rings me up ''you need 2 new wishbones'' :bang: replaced the wishbones then the car seemed okay.... so went and got the car RE-tracked and the problem is still there well to be honest worse than it was... when i hold my steering wheel to the centre the car drives to the right

- New tyres
- New alloys
- New wishbones
- Tracking done twice

What do i do cause its really... :bang::bang::bang::bang:

With the steering wheel centered and the car jacked up do the wheels obviously point to the right? I had this issue a couple of times with the 126 where I took the steering wheel off and had trouble lining it up to be exactly centered.

No they didnt look obviously right to me, he said the track rod ends looked fine etc, its just when i centre the steering wheel the car veers to the right and not straight!!!

Either the steering column was not connected straight when the rack was centered or the track rod ends are on too far at one side.

it all happened (i think) when i put the 15'' dotz alloys drove it to town LOTS of banging i thought what the bloody hell.... takes the wheel off (drivers side) and grease from the cv boot was everywhere, all over the inner side of the alloy etc and the rubber was split so the wheel did the damage so im thinking it could of pulled the driveshaft more over, cause thats the side it pulls it too when the steering wheel is straight (drivers side)

The wheel didnt do the damage even if the bolts were loose. The CV joint has broken or a suspension joint failed and pulled the CV out.

Whatever it was the suspension needs a serious looking at.

Right cars going in the garage first thing in the morning i explained on the phone what was happening and they said they will have a good proper look at it and my squeeky rear too hope they can sort it all out and tell me what the problem is cause its really :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang: dont like driving my car anymore well at the moment!!

Right just left the car at the garage, guy rung me and said theres nothing wrong with the rear suspension they think it needs new rear bushes, as for the steering he said he cant see nothing but he drove it and said it does pull.... so he said:

get it tracked somewhere else
OR
bite the bullet and get a new steering rack :(

What does corky do?

Get the mechanic to show you exactly what's wrong with the steering rack. It's unusual for them to fail but everything wears out eventually.

Right went and had the car tracked somewhere else my old friends at kwik fit haha!!! he said the rear was a little out well he muttered something to himself :S then said right try that and in a way hes sorted it  il find out proper later when i hit the motor way he also sorted my exhaust out cause it was resting on the body and rattling the windscreen and charged me £0.00 ;) so cant grumble lmao!! so from that i think its tracking... but i have tend to find when they are doing the drivers side they always have to heat it up and they always stuggle with it so i thought they do it until they can be arsed!!

probably cause the Track Rod was Seized - so they slap Some heat and force onto it - to start it moving - so they can adjust it :)

ziggy

Well... next wednesday i will have the original Punto suspension on im having it supplied and fitted for £100 EVERYTHING

Front arms and springs
Rear springs and shockers

Hopefully this will sort the bloody squeek out and this dodgy steering out....
