basically had to change battery the day after warning light come on dash, now it wont start.

any suggestions will be greatful

what warning light ??? is that small red battery ?? And what way wont start ?? engine turn over, or not ?

may sound silly, but did you fit the battery the right way around? i.e + terminal to + wire etc?

Usually one is slightly fatter. This says

Quote
17.5mm for the negative post and 19.5mm for the positive terminal. Japanese terminals (picture 2) are visibly narrower at 13.1mm for negative post and 14.7mm for the positive.

Wkipedia is also handy but nothing about terminal sizes

well i was driving on friday when the battery warning light come on the dash and the car slowed down, got the battery tested and it was not hoolding a charge, so replaced it with a new one, it eventually started but was it only lasted a few seconds before it cut out again. its wanting to start and before the battery got replaced it always started first time, btw all the fluids were top up only last week, hope this helps

Some batteries have to be charged before use. Was the generator output ok and have the earth straps been checked out.
