As the title says, opened up my Mk2 Sporting only to be met with a horrendous smell, mouldy seats and a fishtank in the passenger footwell

Any ideas? Anyone else suffer this? I'm not going to enjoy cleaning it up AGAIN

Does your car have a sunroof? Could the ingress of rain water be due to faulty sealing in the sunroof hatch?

Quite often a sign of a dodgy heater-matrix...checked the coolant level?

There was an intermittant leak when I first started driving it, but no puddle in the footwell. I did have to dry it before, when it was stood for nearly a year

It does indeed have a sunroof and air conditioning This seems a likely cause, when the rain subsides I'll dry it up, seal the roof with tape and see if that makes a difference...

Would it be possible that a vent in the bulkhead could cause this? A very common problem with Bravos if the windscreen trim is taken off and the car left outside
