Hello all - I have trawled through the forum threads and still can't find a solution....

I have downloaded a copy of the free version of fiatecuscan on to my Acer notebook running Windows 7, but it only has USB ports so I bought an ELM 327 cable to suit.

The software now says it can't find a connection because it seems to be looking for a serial port - COM 1, etc. (which it hasn't got).

I can't seem to find out any more other that I may need to download a different driver - I have no idea how to do this.

Any help out there?

hi,this is an easy fix, please do the following:
in fiatecuscan, go to settings and in there is a list of available ports on your laptop.
you may have to uncheck the show only available ports box.
now try port 2 or port 3 or port 4 and so on. chances are it will connect to port 2 or 3
