Indicators have stopped working! When switched on, make clicking noise as usual but at twice the speed. Also, Dashboard lights/warning lights stopped working, clock reset but lit, mileometer ok. Central coloumn with heater lights ok, heating, headlamps, windscreen wipers and washers ok, electric windows fine.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Twice the speed means bulbs missing, make sure they are all not working rather than just one or two.

If they are are all out, check the hazard switch.

However, the other problems suggest an earth issue.

Cheers

just checked hazard light, no response just double clicking. Reckon the bulbs are away? All four of them?

I reckon you may be right on the earth issue though, a while back the horn stopped working, noe its ok.

Is this on a Mk1 or a Mk2? (I ask because on the Mk2 the Body Computer is involved). Also when I know which marque I can look at right set of schematics.

Yes, that's a Mk2.

First of all, check fuse F53 (10A) in passenger fusebox. Should be bottom row, second from right.

You might find that one of your indicator lamps blew and took the fuse out with it.

If you don't have a spare you could "borrrow" the 10A fuse from F39. That is for boot light, interior light, stereo and disgnostic socket (bottom row, 4th from right).

got a spare fuse but its a 7.5 rather than a 10 will it be ok for a 20 mile trip to get a replacement?

Let's see, 4 x 21W plus a couple of side repeaters at say 5W each plus dash lamps, say around 95W total (if all on with hazard switch). that's about 8A so the 7.5A might get warm.

I'd suggest move the 10A from F39 to F53 and put the 7.5A in non-critical F39 for now and don't turn the radio up too loud! It'll keep 'till daylight. Anyway, you'll probably be needing an indicator lamp as well - easier to swap if you can see what you are doing.

PS. Was in a Pound shop t'other day and saw a selection of car fuses for a quid - can't go wrong! You even got a pair of those plastic tweezer things to pull them out. They also had packs of car lamps, including a headlight, indicator, brake lamp and a festoon interior lamp.
