[FONT=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]Ok I have had a new power steering column from western powersteering and got a local mechanic to fit it for me on my 1.2 8v punto.

Westen powersteering said it just needs fitting and does't need any recalibration, which i told the mechanic.

Was all fitted and my girlfriend drove home and said it felt ok etc,
but I drove it the following day and realised the steering wheel was about a quarter turn to the left when driving straight. I went back to the the mechanic and was told to get the tracking done by a garage down the road from me. Ok could't get appointment to get checked at other garage till this tuesday so I went and got tracking done by local watling tyres place and they basically said the column must of been fitted wrong as the tracking was too far off to adjust.

I'm going to wait and see what the other garage I was told to go too say tuesday morning, but can anyone give me any info regarding how my steering wheel is a quarter turn to the left when driving straight.

Cheers

If the power steering was properly centered and the car is out by 1/4 of a turn it will need to be retracked to bring the wheels back in line. Though unless it was faulty I cant see how the old system could have been so far out of line.
