Hi all,

My car went in for a service today (Arnold Clark) and they found a few repairs which need to be made - can anyone help me please...

Front brake discs and pads: Are the discs different on the 1.9 JTD - http://www.shop4parts.co.uk/ says that they are the vented discs for this model. I have ABS does this make any difference to the type of pads and discs that I require?

Rear shoes and drums: The only shoes they have listed are for the 1.2 (non ABS). Does anyone know where I can buy shoes for the JTD?

Gearbox: There is a leak from the gearbox somewhere. Apparently they need to strip the box down to find out where the leak is. they estimate about 3.5 hrs of labour for this one! ouch... On the same subject the gearstick was noted as being a bit stiff, could this be the linkage that needs a clean and lubricate? How easy is this to do? It looks like the gearbox has been running with a low amount of oil for a while (due to the leak). Would this have cause any damage? Maybe I should go for a re-conditioned gearbox instead.... what do you guys think? Apart from the slight stiffness the gearbox feels OK. Then again there is a bit of clutch judder when pulling away (71000 on orig clutch)....

Timing tensioner: looking on shop4parts.co.uk again I notice that there are 2 types of tensioner - fixed and adjustable. Which one is it that needs to be replaced when you do the timing belt?

Sorry I have a lot of questions! Thanks a lot for any help!!!

Hi Welcome to the forum... I can't give you any technical help (there are people who can though!) but I do know that Arnold Clark has a very very bad reputation... www.arnoldsucks.com. But if they are being straight with you you sound really unlucky - good luck with it.
