My '02 Punto JTD needs a new fuel filter, and I could do with some easy to follow instructions. The latest Haynes manual doesn't include diesels. Maybe not enough people buying them which is a shame as they're brilliant. I'm a bit reluctant to just unscrew the fuel filter and shove on a new one in case of introducing air into the system, and there's no obvious way to bleed it. On my old Peugeot 405 diesel there was a handy squeezable rubber bulb in the fuel line so bleeding the system was a doddle after changing the fuel filter, but no such luck on the Punto. All advice gratefully received.

Hi I changed the fuel filter on my 2000 jtd, I unscrewed the old filter, taking care due to the filter housing being rubber mounted, put the new filter on, then turned on the ignition, DO NOT START ENGINE, you will hear the fuel pump charge the system, when this stops, start the engine up, it was easy, no problems, it too thought id have to bleed it.
