Technical Annoying glitch

Not long had the car, but every now and then when starting the car refuses to start, as though the battery is dead.

When I turn the key the car strains to start (as when the battery is flat) the dash lights flicker, then the clock on the dash and the trip counter resets to nil.

If I leave the car the for 5-10 seconds and try to start it again it starts first time no problems.

I don't think it's anything major, just anoying that I have to keep resetting the clock.

When starting the car I always wait for the lights on the dash to extinguish and for the fuel pump to power up before trying to start the car.

New battery and clean the terminals. If it continues then clean all earth connections. May be good to do that anyway

I don't tbink it's a problem with the battery as it doesn't do it everyday, maybe once every week to 10 days, every other day it starts first time every time.

I will clean the terminals and earths though as you advise.

Does sound like a continuity problem, so actually remove and clean all the connectors, rather than just look.
