Bush has gone again!! Third Time

Hi all,
I had a problem with knocking/clanging when my car moves over bumps, dips and such like.

And I had it fixed. Was told it was the bush on the passenger side wheel. I watched the guy fix it.

And the car was working like normal again. Until it started happening again. So I took it back to the guy he fixed it. It was probably a year between those two fixes.

But today I drove over a series of speed bumps (NOT very fast, taking some care) on a road and half way through the road I kept hearing the same noise.

I checked shock absorbers, they are fine.

How can I get the bush fixed once and for all?
The sound is not good.
Is there a way to fix?
If I complain about the speed bumps to my council will they do anything?
I dont usually encounter many speed bumps on my journey and was un forseen. But they are kinda high compared to others I have seen.

Re: Bush has gone again!! Third Time

Get the car checked for alignment on a body-shop chassis jig. Three new bushes in such a short time suggests the chassis might be bent and putting abnormal stress on the suspension joints.

Re: Bush has gone again!! Third Time

How much would a new bush cost?

The first time I went somewhere, I went to Kwikfit and they gave me a stupid price of 150 just for the arm.

Theres nothing wrong with the arm.

I had a stupid girl knock into my car, my wheel was out and got knocked, but it was not the passenger side that got hit.

The suspension bush repairs could have been bodged but three times over is unlikely.

The car should be jig checked anyway.

The first two times the bush was put back into place and tightend.

What would the normal process be? Replace the whole fixture?

Re: Bush has gone again!! Third Time

Would be handy to know exactly which bush you were talking about?

Wishbone front mounting?
Wishbone rear mounting?
ARB outer mounting?

Was it a genuine Fiat bush, or cheap pattern part? Some pattern rubber mounts are utter cack (I've known some to last barely a few months).

The three bushes I mentioned are all attached to the wishbone, which one of the three are you moaning about?

So this one?

If they're anything like the pattern Ford Mondeo ones my colleague replaced (3 times in as many months before he gave up and replaced with a genuine complete arm), then I wouldn't bother. Fit a new (decent make/OEM) wishbone.

Re: Bush has gone again!! Third Time

If replacement bushes are available they should be pressed out and in; otherwise fit a new suspension arm.

For better handling (but more road noise) fit poly bushes.

Re: Bush has gone again!! Third Time

Yes D4nny8oy, thats the one.

I've had a look at the Poly Bushes, the idea of increased road noise does not appeal to me, but why would they give you better handling?

All I can see is that they are both made of similar materials.

My handling is already quite good, what kind of improvement will I see from that

Re: Bush has gone again!! Third Time

Hi,
I found this: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Fi...51e724763&ABAB

I am going to get this tomorrow.
But in the description/title it says Punto 188.

Would this bush still work for my mk2b?

These guys are up the road from me and its quicker than sending off for a delivery.

Thanks

Re: Bush has gone again!! Third Time

The mk2 and 2b are both Model code 188.

However, the bush I placed an arrow next to in the picture above is not the Anti Roll bar bush. So which is it that's faulty?
