help guy's,
just fitted new speedgear autobox to my 2001 1.2 16v punto. connected all sensors and wiring back up to the engine and box the way they came off. one wire eludes me. it is a black wire that is in the plastic sheath around the back of the engine. i cant find anywhere that it would bolt to and i am stumped. i dont even remember taking it off. ignition on i have NO fuel pump. if i hold the wire firmly against the body of the alternator the pump works and i can start the car, but stops right away. i bolted the elusive wire to earth. car starts but engine stops right away. i am waiting on the small hose that connects to the big fat hose on the air filter box and has a small thin hose that goes to the inlet manifold as mine is broke. any ideas? starts right away then cuts of right away and wont run.

Hi, you mentioned waiting for the small hose on the heaterbox which has a small pipe going onto the inlet manifold because its broke.

This is probably causing a vacuum leak.

Cheers for that mate. i hope thats what it is.

when i get this running again i am going to put up a post on why everyone on the forum should believe Dave about only using Tutela cvt NG automatic transmision fluid, instead of normal ATF. lets say for now it has cost me £1000 up to now, because of ATF.

PROBLEM NOW SOLVED. :):):):D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Automatic gear box running very smooth and ALL problems solved with a NEW plug and play ECU.
WORD OF WARNING/ADVICE TO ALL WHO HAVE A SPEED GEAR CVT AUTOMATIC, ONLY EVER USE TUTELA CVT NG AUTOMATIC TRANSMITION FLUID. My £25 bottle of ordinary red ATF has just cost me £1245. Tutela cvt NG was £57 for 4 litres and the filter was £50. £157 would have saved me a fortune if i had known about the fluids. I read dave's warnings about ATF in the speed gear CVT auto boxes on here, but it was after i had knackered mine.
So all hail to Dave. he has just saved my replacement cvt box, as i would have just filled the new one with ATF had i not read his warnings.
