Hi all....new to the world of Fiats being a staunch Landrover owner/driver and amateur (at the best) mechanic for years....however, bought a little 2000 x reg turbo diesel punto the other month for the mrs to commute the 4 miles to work every day. Got it cheap and cheerful, good nick, etc etc, nothign wrong with it at all, til yesterday,,,,the driver's door bottom hinge has broken.....looks like the hinge pin has snapped in situ.....the half of the hinge that's welded to the door is fine (but it has still got half the pin inside presumably which i can drill out no bother), but it looks like it's the half thats bolted to the door pillar that's going to be the problem...the pin has sheere off flush with the top of the hinge (remeber it's the bottom hinge though).....obviously the door is gonna have to come off, the bit drilled out of that half of the hinge, then the other half of the hinge (attached to the pillar) will have to be unbolted....where can i get this part from? Anyone got one kicking arond spare? Any tips on refitting the door/pitfalls?

Cheers all, and sorry for such a rambling first post

Gareth :)

I had this happen, just go scrappy and get another hinge dead easy removal and fit and only takes about 20 minutes, doors are fairly heavy though and a **** to line up the 2 hinges so ask a mate round for support

Take off the door, drill or knock out the pin and use a suitable bolt though the hinge. Its at least a 2 man job (maybe three).

With such a short commute in a diesel, the car will need a regular longer run because the engine will struggle to get up to running temperature. The EGR and inlet side can get coked up and so will the exhaust catalyst. The latter can get blocked or burnt out if it becomes overloaded.
