i want to spray the dash and center, the dash is a rubbish grey and the center is black, is it possible to get vinyl sheet or something or is it just easyer to paint it?
thanks for your replys

I've built kit cars in the past and trimming is always a big issue.

The Punto main dash is made from polypropylene (PP) to which nothing** sticks so painting it isnt an option.

** OK, it can be done but needs a flaming technique to soften the surface and a special primer. Try doing that on a large area without getting lumpy stripes and missed patches. The adhesive layer is also softer than the paint so will the finish cope with the huge temperature range inside a car.

PP will also take high temperature contact adhesive so you could cover it with an alcantara or leather type fabric. You will need to stitch sheets together so the covering can follow the shape. On external curves or flat surfaces you could use nylon lycra as it stretches so well, but it will be a problem getting it into the hollows and glue will bleed through.

Any fabric uses up space so items like air vents need the holes opened up before applying the covering. How much? Who knows, you'd have to experiment.

Dont use ordinary adhesives they either wont stick or they soften in the heat of summer. You could talk to Frost.co.uk.

The best bet is get a spare dash from a car breakers and experiment.
