Hi, hope someone can help. My passenger side dipped headlight bulb has blown and I am finding it a real swine to replace. It's a Punto 1.9 JTD ELX. THe space is tiny (there is a fuse box in the way) meaning there is no room to move. Also, I have big hands as well which makes matter worse!

I am hoping someone out there has some ingenious suggestion which will help me.

I have the bulb but am unable to replace it for the reasons given above :bang:

Cheers!

If you take the lid off the fuse box and then loosen the fuse box itself you should be able to get it in no trouble - well apart from a skinned knuckle if you're unlucky!

that is exactly what i done ems. i also have big hands. i loosened fuse box moved it back a couple of inches that gave me enough room to change bulb. minus the skin on me knuckels of course.

others i know have taken the head light out.

I tried on my Punto JTD and lost the will to live.

Luckily it was 1 week before it was due a service so I just got it done then, and they didn't charge me.

If you think changing bulbs on a Punto is bad, I also own a smart and they are a complete sh*t. You need to either have fore-arms longer than a lampost and as wide as a shoe-lace or remove the whole front panel on the car

I have a Punto JTD too - both dipped bulbs seem to have gone but I have forgotten which is the dipped bulb - is it the outside one? I did have a look at the access and it seems totally useless, I have both to do :(

I have a MK2b Punto and can't seem to get bulb to lock into chamber correctly, Is there any special method or instructions for fitting the bulb correctly in the chamber?

Cheers,
Fraser

Hear this, boys!

If the dipped beams on your Punto Mk2 keep blowing try finding a english copy of the Magneti Marelli "ia04-tecn-atit-18-00" document, as it explains how to fix it for good...

Here it is in Italian.

I have received it from the good man Dodipa, from an Italian forum, all hail Dodipa!

Thats well known, was spoken about here ages ago;)
Been searching for ages all over the 'net, this document is the first I have found stating explicitly the problem and the solution. And proving that the "make a few holes in the light unit" theory is a pile of manure.

 never heard of that?

The document you found has been talked about here along time ago,it applies (perhaps more so) to stilos.

I have found it , in a message dated december 5th (even if it is the original FIAT document and not the Magneti Marelli I have found). https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-technical/125535-dipped-beams-failing-02-mk2-punto-1-2-8v-2.html

Google cannot find that document anywhere on the 'net.

About the drilling, if you search the forum you wull find that some people had the light block drilled, so that it could shed water better...

Just replaced all my bulbs in the MK2 last night (put some Xenon's in), and I too had a bit of trouble with the passenger side dipped light. Thankfully my girlfriend has quite small hands, so once I used a pair of plier's to pull the black connector off the back of the bulb, released the spring type clips and let my girlfriend swap the bulbs (y)
