I have an X reg punto mia 1.2 2000
my problem is that my power steering light comes on and off,
when its on the steering is very heavy.
On a previous post somebody had posted with the same problem they were told to check the fluid tank, but i thought the car had full eps and therefore had no fluid.
someone please help

I'm pretty sure that the mk2.5's all have Electronic two stage power steering (identifyable by the little city driving button), but I'm also pretty sure that it still has a hyrdaulic system, just look under the bulkhead plastic thing.

tried giving it a tap incase of an airlock, but no difference the warning lights still on an no power steering
I have been told to try the the ground beneath the dash, does anyone know where that is situated or have any other ideas what might be wrong.

Are you sure its not electric steering??? If its not why are you looking for wiring problem?

If it is (electric) it will probably be VSS signal unless its a motor/ecu steering fault...£££££

Earth point is tucked away to the left of the steering column(right hand drive!) you get to it under dash & its a pig to get too! However careful as this is earth point for airbag dash light & you could end up creating more problems.I'm almost certain your problem doesn't lie here,it will probably be VSS signal (there is a wiring modification for this) unless its a motor/steering ecu fault...£££££.Either way you need to get dealer to put light out so worth getting them to read the fault(s).
