Very basic question, but what size of socket or whatever is required to remove the oil sump drain plug on a Fiat Punto 1.2 (8v), year 2000 model?
Groping around under the car with sense of touch (there is hardly any room), it was difficult to tell what is required. Any other tips welcome.

You can buy a Universal sump plug remover from Halfords. The plug is at the back of the sump and there is plenty of room there to undo the plug. Honestly it is easy to get a sump plug remover and a doddle to undo the plug. Just stay well clear when you get it undone and dont do it over a drain as you will definately lose the sump plug if you do.

2000 ELX , (1998 60S got mashed)

If it's the same as the 1997 1.2 8v, then it's a 12mm hex key.

I did mine with a 12mm hex socket and a 4 foot torque wrench
