Remote central locking

Apparently there's a kit that gives your car RCL. I think it's just a relay with an aerial on it. The car is a '98 Sporting and already has a push button key fob on the blue key. Has anybody heard about this aor has anybody done this??? Ta.

Re: Remote central locking

I've got one - if the car's got central locking then yes you can get a little kit for it. What does your key do then is it for an alarm? Anyway you just get a key fob with unlock/lock buttons on it, a bit of wiring to be done but it's not too difficult.

You can find the kits on ebay, I got a cobra one but there are some Fiat ones kicking around sometimes as well which are even easier to fit. It's worth doing, once you get emote locking you won't ever want a car without it again!

Re: Remote central locking

This is the strange thing, I would have thought that the key fob I have with the button it would be for RCL. It's the standard key fob, not an aftermarket alarm one. I've tried numerous pairs of batteries in the key fob, but I don't seem to have working RCL!!!

Re: Remote central locking

Is it the sporting or the SX? I'm starting to think now you've said that the sporting might have remote locking, maybe it's broke...

Edit... Oops you already said it's the sporting... I wonder.

Re: Remote central locking

Hmm having looked at parkers.co.uk I think the sporting should have remote locking after all - someone with a mk1 sporting hopefully can confirm this...

So back to the drawing board looks like it might be broke for some reason.
