hi all :)
hoping someone can help, punto year 2000, indicators flash too fast, all bulbs and connections ok, as the indicators are controlled by the bcu, i changed the bcu from another punto, indicators flash ok at normal speed, so problem is in bcu, has anyone had this problem, have a fix, is it a mot failure,

many thanks;)

the flasher relay ??? this was the problem in my dads toyota....it was connected to the cabling near the stalk.....mayb the punto has this too

puntomcd,

As you surmise, the body computer controls the timing of the indicators as opposed to some sort of timer relay. Never had one apart so don't know how easy that would be. If it can be opened without damaging, it would be worth looking around it for "dry joints", i.e. soldered joints that are no longer sound. Can't recall whether you could just get a replacement from a scrapyard to work. You suggested that a donor one made the indicators work OK but didn't say whether all other functions were normal (including does the engine start!). The BC is programmed for the vehicle spec. so would at least need to be from a similar model.

BTW, does it flash too fast on hazards as well? (doesn't help you, I'm just intrigued).

AS for MOT, it may be a failure - I think the indicators have to flash between 60 and 120 times per minute.

Hazards flash fast aswell,:bang:
after changing the bcu from other punto, car won't start incorrect key code (key code light on and eng. man. light on)

took bcu apart, changed a few capacitors and used a mag. glass looking for dry joints. traced circuit from relay to processor chip counted 180 pulses using a logic probe, a lot of s-mounted components on board, does anyone know if bcu can be re-programmed and using what software??

thanks again:worship:
