mk2, punto 1.2, 2000, this problem is intermittent when the key is turned the engine sounds like it wants to start but for some reason will not.:bang: i have taken the plugs out and they are good and gapped right. i know its a case of fault finding but if this has happened to anyone before or is a common fault your help will be very welcome as fault finding can get very expensive

Do you have a yellow key light on the dash?
Are your plugs sparking? Do you have fuel going to cylinders,
are your lights dimming as you try and start

there are no lights on the dash,the plugs are sparking, fuel is ok, and not sure about the lights dimming. so im still a little stumped on the problem.

is it worse when its a cold morning?

How old is the battery?
and when did you last do a Really Good Run?

Right well find out about the lights if they are dimming. Could just be a dying battery

she has a good 50 mile run every day......??if its the battery would she be dying when turning over cuz she sounds like she has plenty of life its like everything works really good but she dont wanna fire up.....i will get the battery tested this week
