Last week my 2004 1.2 8v Punto had a service and passed MOT. The garage asked whether i had replaced the Cam belt as it was due to be done as now passed 72,000 miles. I havent changed it (bought car year ago) and i dont think the previous owner has either.
Does it have to be changed at this point or is that just an advisory? Is it worth taking the risk of leaving it for a bit?

change it now; straightforward diy job; see other posts/guides

clearance engine no need to change if it snaps car will stall thats it...get a new belt and time up the engine will be fine

however like dave says winters coming....nobody likes workin on ther cars in the pissin rain and freezin temps so mayaswel just change it mate....i got 87k out of my timing belt then i changed mine just because i got bord one day lol tbh the belt looked ok

Just had mine done at 56000 miles including new tensioner and water pump.....just in case.....

Mine is a 2002 Sporting though and costs alot more to repair if the belt does go...
