HI me and my mechanic have swapped my fiat punto sporting mk2 engine with a hgt 1.8 engine along with brakes,fan, exhaust etc.

The flippin car wont start. we have swapped the engine wiring loom,the ecu, the fuse box, the ignition barrel from the hgt and transponder.

What can I do now someone please Help me it would be much appreciated. Regards Kev

Tell us more information, your not even saying if it turns over etc.

Tell everything that is happening, and every single bit you have swapped over, the people that do engine swaps will then have a better idea about what is wrong.

ok m8 thanks 4 the reply, i think ive listed all the parts tht have been changed.

right when you turn the key in the ignition barrel the engine turns over but will not go any further than that,it will not start, It wont open the injectors .

the key code light on the dash stays on constantly when the key is turned.

any help would be gr8

Check through the Punto section, also the sei section is a goldmine for engine swaps. D4ans just done one I think, look through there and post what you put above in the main Punto section will get more help that way.

Sorry I have not done an engine swap so no idea, code might hint imobiliser or something.

Search the Punto section using the arrow in the top right

When you turn the key the key code light stays on on the dash and the engine turns over but will not start.

yeh i definatly used the hgt ecu, i was driving the hgt about b4 and it wrkd ok, my mechanic said he used the hgt ecu so ill take his word 4 it.

um no i didnt swap the internal fusebox it looked the same? or is it not?, whereabouts is the internal body computer?

thanks very much, i will try swapping the internal fusebox ,

Btw does anyone know how the speedometer works on a hgt? because the sporting speedometer works by connecting a cable but on the hgt you cant connect a cable up, it works another way.

any help would be great

Thanks alot dave swapping the internal fusebox worked, but i have more problems .

It drives but the speedometer dont work as I mentioned and half the dash lights stay on.

the throttle sensor light stays on, which I think is giving me less power, any ideas??

Ive swapped the dials is that what u mean??

Nah def not got abs i know some have tho.
 
It sounds like the best option is to swap everything from the HGT to the "Sporting". It then might work. Basically swap all mechs and electrics from the HGT. To be sure use looms fuse boxes absolutely everything.
