hi all,

as you know my exhaust is broken in half...the flexi joint is snapped and the middle piping is also broken :(

this is the oppotunity for me to get a performance exhaust....but where do i get a performance middle pipe from?? mines a 1.2 mk2 8v with already straight through pipe (no middle silencer) i was wanting a sort of wider pipe any ideas where to get it from??

cheers
brin

also where can i get a performance branch monifold from??

Won't make any difference having a wider pipe. Just a new section of exhaust pipe is fine. Stainless steel if poss.
Them branch manifolds are rare as anything! I've been searching for a while now and never found anyone with one. Fine for mk1 though, loads of them.

Not sure if any have even been made

yh they defo make them mate...ther was one on sale on here when i first got my car last year was £60 for branch manifold and sports cat build in...but that was ages ago and new they will cost a lot more lol

and wider pipe will give free gas flow...less resitriction...i know i havnt got a turbo or a big litre car but if i believe that it will work then it will lol(y)

I know the bigger pipe means less restriction but the standard pipe is plenty bit already as all restriction is in the cat and a bit more in the back box. So the centre pipe being wider won't make any difference unless you change the cat and backbox aswell.
The standard pipe wouldn't be causing any more restriction than the other components already are

yh i didnt say i wasnt goin to change the manifold and back box i am goin to i just wanted the middle pipe first as it is blowin lol

u got a longlife cat back system?? stainless steel as in the company longlife exhaust and tony banks auto engineering??

i asked them how much for middle pipe they said £160 and i think £660 for back box and middle (cat back)

BTW u just got a standard middle pipe straight through from andrew paige with work discount so got it for £17 not bad at all lmao

ye mate as in longlife the company. its all stainless steal and its a straight through centre section and back box

No doubt good kit but a lot of dosh that wont make an 8V go any faster without mega money spent on the engine.

toooo true mate :)

and wait a minute so your sayin you got a catback longlife system for £30?? Or just middle for £30?? either way £30 is nothing i was gettin quoted £160 for middle and £660 cat back job

a wider center section will probly make you car slower, there will be less pressure in the exhaust system, its totally pointless and a waste of money just buy a standard sized one and put a new back box and tailpipe if u want to make loads of noise

yep i did get a standard one from andrew paige for £17....i fitted it perfect no leaks and the awful sound has gone....was very loud before because flexi had snapped all the way round completely off lol

only problem now is that the andrew paige part had very long hangers on it(the mounting rods that you put the rubber mounts onto) so it knocks agaisnt chasis when ever the car turns or changes gear quite a lot lol but il modify it lol

just need cuttig down a bit that all lol

and tbh when my exhaust was completely broken and the exhust gases wer coming out straight after manifold i noticed an increase in power because i always use this same dualcarriage way on way home and every day on the uphill part if im in 5th gear at 60mph (cos of speed camera) then it will not accelerate on the hill....but wen exhaust was broken it accelerated up to 80mph on th hill which i didnt believe now back to normal once new exhaust fitted :( but i noticed im usin less fuel now aswel :)

i have a k&n induction kit and my exhaust was blowin a bit since i bought the car and gave it a bit more of i deeper sound now that iv fit the exhaust properly less of a depper sound:(

and no i dont like big noisy backboxes...i am however gettin a dual exit stainless one but custom made so to the right tone and mainly for looks tbh :)

Maybe no need to cut the mounting pegs. Try a 10mm worm drive (jubillee) clip on each peg to stop the mounting rubbers slipping along. Probably be enough to stop things banging on the chassis.
