Good afternoon,
My Punto 1.2 Y reg is due its MOT next month, at teh same time i am looking at advice for the best things to do to make it good for thr cold mornings in winter.
The main points i have to fix for the MOT would be the PAS i have read the many threads about this. Mine appears to be the same it will work sometimes and then cuts out. I think that the battery is to blame so I would be looking at getting a new one. But what other things are cost effitive to change to ensure the car runs ok in the winter, apart from a serivce that i will had done along with the MOT.

If the PAS was not to work on the day of the test would this constiute a fail? As the car is so old and just used as a works car i dont want to spend to much on it. I just need it for work and back, the car has done over 100k and i would not see the point in paying out for ne PAS which i have seen prices of around 500 pounds.

Thanks for you help and advice.

Regards

the PAS could be a few things

cheap thing to check is the battery terminals are clean and all the engine bay earth points....

get the battery load tested by a decent motorfactors rather than one of the chain garages as i dont trust them ;) also get an alternator test done if they are obliging

a oil and coolant change along with the filters would be advisable grease the battery terminals with specific grease and if your budget spreads some decent winter tyres ;)
