hey, ive got a mk2 punto 1.2 16v elx 3 door in teseo blue and im in the process of tidying up/modding it.

im looking for cheap/easy mods that i can do to it - preferably without it really affecting the insurance (only had my license for 5 months so not so cheep as it is). as you can guess from how long ive had my license, im also a novice with cars so my skills are not great.

has anyone got any ideas on what else i can do to my girl to improve her? i will eventually get an induction kit fitted but that will probably be as far as i will go with the engine so its all about improving the appearance.

to date i have done as follows:

de-badged the back
removed the door bump strips
new hub caps (alloys will be fitted eventually but bit too costly for the moment)
3rd brake light decal
replaced the parcel shelf (didnt have one when i bought it)
fitted aftermarket stereo
removed the black door pillar vinyl
fitted aero wiper blades
restored the black plastic trims (good ol' back to black)
fitted a bee sting aerial
wind deflectors

im also in the process of fitting eyebrows and spraying the center console the same colour as the car - and plan to cc door handles and mirrors when i can keep the car off the road for a couple of days in good weather.

so... thoughts on what i can do next?

Good look getting paint to match the car is all I can say! I have the same colour car and it's been discontinued.

Colour coded bumpers if you don't already have them. Also how did you replace the aerial? I have an aerial to fit but can't shift the old one :(

ive had to get the paint mixed up special code is 597 - most paint specialists will still mix it up for u if u ask, and a lot of places will colour match if u take in the fuel filler cap etc to match the fading.

as for the aerial, the mast just screws on/off so its easy to fit, otherwise u will need to remove the base as well by going in through the courtesy light and disconnecting it from there.

Yeah I know to take the whole base off but it won't seem to screw. I thought it did (must be corroded)

I tried to get a touch-up pen last time and the colour was well off. Where did you go and how much to pay for the paint?

Also lowering springs make handling much better if you can get them cheap (y)
Painted calipers and drums if you have alloys. If you do, painted alloys aswell (y)

id say get some mole grips or something to unscrew the mast. mine wasnt too hard to take off but im sure a bit of brute force will shift it.

im yet to lacquer the eyebrows to see how close the paint matches to the rest but i got 300ml spray from a place called motabitz for 13.99.

long term plans will be full body kit, tinted windows, alloys, nice sounding exhaust, lowered springs and a complete respray to black, but will keep the interior as teseo blue cos i like the colour. prob i got is most of them either cost a lot to do (generally) or will have a not so nice impact on my insurance until i can get some no claims on the go.

i would prob go with the black/blue colour theme so will shift out the red seats/door cards and use blue accents inside with front calipers to match once i get alloys fitted - again money allowing, so at present im looking at more short term mods.

A complete re-spray to black. After paying for the spray, telling DVLA, your insurance being told and increasing the price just because it's a change. You may as well buy a black car to start with

well true... but i went with what i liked and could afford at the time... hence the punto... besides it wont be a bog-standard black, i would go with coloured metallic black - maybe blue flecks in or something.

Fab idea until some To$$er keys it or it gets thumped. You'll need to buy a loads of extra paint just in case.

Ordinary Fiat black is at least easy to get.
