i had below min water level in my rad, topped this up, then noticed a day or 2 later, a little puddle under engine on driver sideish...not over heating, and no problems what so ever, im not very car lit, but noticed water around oil filter...is water pump above it, and the seal on that has gone, thats why leaking over oil filter....if so, is my water pump, easy to change...please advise

Support the engine from underneath, take off engine mount. Remove casings and sensors around the cambelt. Tensioner off, cambelt off. Unbolt the water pump and prise off. New pump with instant sealant in.
May aswell renew the cambelt and tensioner at the same time.

Have to drain coolant and replace aswell, obviously.

Sounds harder than it is

Bred is right if you have some experience but not something to learn on

The job will need a good set of tools - combination spanners, sockets, Torx bits and the usual bits and bobs. Best take it to a garage before you blow the head gasket. Then get some spannering experience before you delve into cam belt jobs.

When you top up the coolant dont forget to bleed the system. Air bubbles will also take-out the head gasket. Just use water until its repaired then keep to good quality coolant.

Good input but no torx bits are required anywhere in that job. Don't know about mk1 but mk2 doesn't.
Just spanners and sockets (y) Maybe some circlip pliers and something to break off them annoying clips on the radiator hoses

thank you peeps....gonna get someone who knows what there doing...just watch and learn lol:D
