Nevermind, got the car now.
Going to take ALOT of work to get this going again. What seals can go at the back of the engine? Got oil burning ffrom the back of the engine as soon as the car is started. Thats not just a HG

Does need alot doing but got plenty of time. So far:
Front wipers are knackered (got spares anyways)
Bonnet release has broken, easy fix
Whole engine problem,
Speedo and mileage doesn't work (simple sensor replace)
Handbrake needs adjusting as it comes up
HUGE speakers on the parcel shelf but looks like ones been blown to sh*t (might get rid of these)
Alloys I may sell,
Steering light on so needs new battery

Thats what I've spotted so far! :yum:

Even with that list of problems, It's a sodding steal for the price/mileage me think's. Nice one (y)

Haha, well god knows what the actual mileage is! Could have been driven for 20k miles more than that for all I know. The mileage isn't going up because the speedo sensor is broke/loose/not there!

If the HG was done and bodged, oil could be spurting onto the exhaust. You'l know better when the head is off.

Yeah I'll pull it apart and see if it's worth rebuilding or stick a new engine in it.
Just recently sold one for £50 aswell

Coming from the back of the engine and it's white smoke. Smells like burning oil though and is there from start up. Never did get chance to look at it as it was quite dark and parked in a bush :p
Take the airbox off and start her up tomorrow.

Do you know if electric window puntos all had central locking?

Okee Poke! Got some pics, took air box off today and started her up.
Head gasket is fine, heater works, bit of white smoke from exhaust (not much), Coolant is fine.
Blowing a hell of alot of smoke from the crankcase breather! What causes this?

Going to go work now but I'll check the timing etc when I get home. Going to need some rusty bits n bobs replacing.

Pressure bowing out of the breather or oil filler cap usually means the piston seals have gone. Try a wet and dry compression test.

Going to get round to that! (y) Got too much on atm and got plenty of time to do it. Maybe at weekend. Hoping it's not a cracked cylinder or anything though as once warm there is the slight smoke from the exhaust. It's white though but not losing coolant so can only presume it's small amounts of oil. I'll rev her up see if it clears or not. Could just be clearing the exhaust if not been run in a while.

How do you replace piston seals though, head off and what from there? Do you have to actually take the pistons out?
Done a head gasket but that's as far as I've been so far (y)

LMAO! TSW Venoms they are. 15"

Looks like Fiance is going to keep the car and alloys in need of a refurb, so she wants them white - but get this - Glittery! :yuck:

If I sprayed them white same as mine then glitter spray paint on top would it stick and would the clear lacquar then stick on to that?

Still wanna know about the piston seals aswell please! :D

To do the rings you need to take the pistons out. To be honest once you get to the point of removing the pistons you really have to consider whether it would be easier to get a new engine.

Anyway, the process is roughly

Head off
Sump off
Unbolt big end bolts
Pull pistons through top (EDIT: they won't fit past crank)
New rings on, insert through top with piston ring compressor; which looks like a collar for the piston that compresses the rings while you tap it back into the bore

There is obviously loads of cleaning, inspection/measuring that goes along with this.

I know when I was looking to replace the rings on mine, they were £80+ for a full set from Fiat, and you are assuming the bores aren't totally ****ed. Probably easier to fit a new engine unless you find a cheap set of rings to gamble with.

Hmm does sound much easier to shove a new engine in, may have a word with Jacko then. He said he has one spare

For glittery wheels you could stick some suitable tape into the spoke curves (not on the face - too obvious). If it looks rubbish peel it off again.

Somehow suspect it wont be there for long.

Just near me right now there is a black Citroen C2 with white alloys. It looks well cared for, but those wheels are just too much.
