mk2 fiat punto elx 8v

everytime i go over 30mph i hear a squealing noise coming from the front of my car. when ever i go over 50mph it gets extremely loud and unbearable.
help? much appricated

Hi Copey, Sounds like your fan belt, most likely just needs to tightened, but could be on it's way out and might need to be replaced - if you tighten it yourself be careful as you may end up snapping it yourself!

It could be a sticking brake pad - does it stop squealing when you brake?

If so, take off the brake pads clean the sliding slots and put them back. Do BOTH sides.

Another possible is a little gravel stone stuck on the metal plate behind the disc.
