Firstly, Howdy. I'm a newbie on here. I'm a honda man myself but would really appreciate any advice from any fiat specialists on this one!

My girfriends punto - 55 plate 1.4, has an oil leak which is causing the clutch to slip. At first, I didnt notice the oil leak and assumed that the clutch had gone, so I had the clutch changed. Whilst replacing the clutch the garage saw that oil that was causing it to slip so they replaced the crankshaft oil seal along with fitting a new clutch and release bearing.

The problem is that now the new clutch is slipping too and there is also noticable leak of oil in the area between the sump and the clutch housing...

Presumably its the crankshaft oil seal that has failed again? This seems odd seeing as the seal is brand new...Or is there another likely source of the leak getting through to the clutch?

Basically I'd like know if this has happended to anyone before. Is this a common problem on punto's? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the replies guys. The work was done about 3 months ago but its been fine up until recently. They were pretty useless so i wouldnt be surprised if they installed the seal backwards or something. Dont know if its too long now for the garage to accept liability?

did think it might be the input shaft seal but had a good look under the car and I'm pretty sure its engine oil.
