Hey,

Whats your max speed out of your punto? On a MK1 60 1999, 1.2 8v I can get 100 hundred :D.

Whats yours?

Speedo is programmed to read up to 10% higher than you are actually doing. 100MPH on speedo is usually 91-92MPH

Keep them speeds up and you'll be looking at replacing a blown headgasket. I presume you don't have a rev-o-meter because at 100MPH the car is redlining! That's how I blew my headgasket lately! (y)

Don't forget that the speedo depends on the actual diameter of the tyre as well so wear/inflation/centrifugal force come into it. BTW if you're not on a track let us know in advance of these "tests" so I can get my family safely indoors.

My old mk1 55s used to do 110, who knows how far the speedo was out by?!

i get 110 mph on satnav 1.2l 8v mk2, tested on free airfield not public roads

and yeah thats at like 4k revs in 5th

dont think blow hedgasket like that i been redlinin everyday in every gear since i got it and still fine lol (on the airfield ;) )

Haha! Well on one of them hottest days we had I was cruising done M-way at 80, next moment I look down and doing 100MPH! I never take the car that fast cause I know it works the engine too much. Slowed down when I noticed but I had bubbling in the coolant start from that day onwards

I've had 115 when slightly downhill, on a 1.2 cat back exhuast sytem, induction kit and remap.

I wouldn't go that speed again, it felt really uncomfortable, steering wheel was shaking, and the noise was so loud, and if I crash at that speed I'm dead.

Need to get better discs and pads too.

What I hate about my damn hairdryer powered car is once I brake at high speed, it takes ages to build speed back up, even when I drop it down a gear.

If you crashed at 60mph you'd probably be dead!

And for those covering their backs saying "it was on an airfield"..just say you went on the Autobahn in Germany - no speed limit :)

Mine was in tesco car park

:D

That is a joke by the way, we all know I'd run out of car aprk before getting anywhere near there, and I don't drive like an ass in public places.

I dont recomend speed tests on public roads. I was in the passenger seat when it went on its roof. The car was at 98mph. If one wants to drive at a fast speed, safe environment only :)
