Hey,

First post here, great forum. The amount of information here really makes ya glad to buy a Fiat.

Anyway i just bought a 1997 Punto 55s privately. Didnt notice anything on the test drive because I realy didnt get a chance to open up.
But when i took it out on motorway last night I noticed that it was pulling to the left when i was at 60mph. When i accelerated hard the steering wheel moved to the right and when i backed off fast the steering wheel moved to the left. If I held the wheel tight when accelerating the car moved hard to the left and straightened back up when decelerating.

I brought it to a tyre shop today and had the tracking checked and it was out a bit. They put it to correct settings. Now the sterring wheel is offset a bit to the right but that doesnt worry me too much.
The thing is that the car still reacts the same way as before the tracking was done.
Tyre pressure had been at 22/23 psi when purchased but i set it to 28psi(about 2.0 bar) all round before this test.

What should i do next? Is there any common fault that would give this problem?
I am mechanically minded so should be able to carry out some checks/work myself if you guys know what to do.

Thanks in advance.

yeah my punto pulled left untilli changed front tyres and had them rebalanced now it goes straight :D so balancing could be a prob. if they are alloys check to see if you can see any marks were weights have come off especially sticky ones. had that happen once on old car of mine no idea how it come off but it did.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I will check everything at the weekend.
Also i'm going to try putting the back wheels to the front and vice-versa seeing as the readout from the tracking said that it was perfect at the back, so the tires should have been worn pretty even.

Have another problem too but i'll post that seperately now because it isn't really related to this one.

Thanks again.
