My new shape punto didn't come with any rear speakers, only what I can see the two front ones in the doors. I would like to install some speakers in the rear, but using the provided grills under the seatbelt holder thing. I don't want to cut into the parcel shelf or anything like that. From what I've been reading, I need to use 10cm speakers for this gap? Is this true? And will they just clip or screw into the holes provided?

Or is there any chance that I could get a Fiat dealer to install some standard ones for me? (checkout my other post in the styling forum about some colour coded bumpers, so I may be visiting a dealer anyway.)

Thanks for any replies.

What Punto model did you get? My 2000W ELX has the 6 speakers inside + the sub in the boot, so I'm surprised a newish Punto comes witout rears. (Although if you have plastic bumpers then it's an older base model - don't all "Active's" have the body coloured ones?)...

I do believe they are 10cm round speakers (front's being 6.5"/17cm). I don't know about fitting as I've stayed with the originals. When I got the 10CD-changer a delaer wnted about £350 inclusing the unit and fitting. I got a recon (told most are part of packages where the head unit didn't work - ie brand new), £175 fitted from a local ICE dealer. If you take a look at your car and see how to do it, then DIY. If not then go to an ICE place and I'm sure they can do it cheaper than a dealer.

Punto Mk2 ELX

It's a Y reg, just says 1.2 Punto on the documentation I have, and just Punto on the back of the car. I'm 18, this is my first car, I don't know much about it yet!

If I was you I would fit a set of 6'x 9's in the back parcel shelf, its simple to do, and looks tidy if you do it properly, and doesn't rob you of much boot space either.
Running the leads from the boot to the radio and hiding them is a simple job which involves removing a few panels below the door(s), and i think 6' x 9's would give a better sound than the 10cm ones??

Don't you think they look tacky though? Like most kids have in the back of their Fiesta? And when I come to sell the car on, I doubt the buyer would want them either.

hellow. i have a mk2 punto GO. i had disconnected the rear speakers and insted used them connections to run my 6 x 9's. pay around 100 quid for a good set. the more u pay the better sound quality you get. i have also changed the 2 front 10cm door speakers. that was as simple as unscrewing the old one and screwing the new one in. wne all of this is linked in with a new head unit. NECESSARY for good sound, 6 speakers and the origionla boot subwoofer, with an upgraded 10cm sub, the sound is very gud, for such minor inexpensive mods.

The Mark 1 was a far better thing.

1 Better looking
2 Original design -- nothing else like it
3 Somewhere to put the left foot when not on clutch
4 You could hear the indicator
5 It didn't feel as though you have to look over the dashboard -I'm over 6 foot
6 The 16 valve engine in its original tune was so much more fun over 5000 rpm.
7 Felt more spacious inside.
8 Electronics simpler -- I never really trust Italian electrics/electronics.

I'm so convinced that I didn't buy a Mk2 to replace my Mk 1
