Hi Everyone

I have a S Reg Punto that I have owned from new. Great car, only problem I have had, is needing to get the head gasket replaced a couple of years ago. My son now uses the car, just passed his test.

The problem is the car will not start when engine is cold even when I garaged over night. The engine turns over fine (new battery) but will not fire. I can bump start the car and it starts as soon as you lift the cluch peddle. Therefore, to me the spark plugs and leads must be OK. Once engine warm car starts and runs fine.

Could it be that the ECU needs resetting and if so how do I do this?
Could it be one of the senors, and is so, which one?
Where do I start?

I need need help. Come on we can all remember what driving for the first time was like and our first car (actually I own the car but my son is using it, but embarrassing have to get some to help bump start the car).

Thanks

:shakehead: first you must not bump start a car with a cat,
when you bump start it engine is proubaly turning over faster than with the battery. alough battery is not flat proubaly not got enought power to turn over fast enough, try some jump leads see if it starts then.
son is proubaly doing lots of short trips and sitting around with the radio on draining battery,
failing that it could be tempature sendor telling ecu that the car is hot when its cold so its giving less fuel than it needs,
