Im new to the forum's and i have finally got my mk2 punto sporting
ive only had 2 problems really the 2 boots struts fail n dont keep the boot lid open as my dad found out, but the garage has orded new ones to replace for free so jobs a good one. but now to the main problem the car runs fine and has no problems just once i hit a bumpy round or a slight bump i hear a rattle, as if something metal is loose, ive had the car up and looked around n checked the basics seems thats all i really know n had it at the garage and they "checked" which must of consisted of driving around tesco car park and that was it, does anyone ave any thoughts to what it could be?

Had a similar problem myself a few weeks ago shortly after buying my Mk 1 diesel. Had it up on ramps and shook everything around, couldn't find anything so obviously loose enough to be causing the rattle. Finally, in desperation, I took it up to my local tyre and exhaust place. They found the front brake pads to be rattling around within the calipers, partly down to the excessive wear, and also, I think the spring clips that assist keeping them in position, had fallen out/broken. New pads and discs later, nice and quiet at the front end again - well apart from that noisy diesel engine!

i also have this problem, mine comes from the drivers front wheel area, have you got this sorted yet ?

edit: i replaced my caliper holders n the noise went, but now its back with the holders in palce

me n cooks had a look under and had it up n we were stumpped but my radiator is quite loose so im thinking that cause its kind of the same noise when i wobble it, so gunnatighten it up n then seeif it goes, if not then looks like a trip to the garage.

i was looking under my bonet wilst my punto mrk 2b was running and i noticed the heat cover was rattaling so i got my brother to rev the car wilst i looked at it wen it reved at 2.5 - 3000 rpm it rattled really bad i never noticed this cuz of my exhaust or music but it was easly fixed no need to take it to a garage i just unbolted it put bigger area washers on like 50p from a hand man shop it is directly infront of the radiotor big silver thing u can just rip it of but u might melt ur radiator or something if u do

sorry i aint been on a while, i have had problems with electrics due to a dodge dealer, so after i got it fixed i took the car to my brother and he found out on the protector sorry to not give accurate part, near the breaks was nocking when i went over a bump, i only observed my brother all i know is he bent it back into place well a quick job, which hasnt done much, so he is going to do the proper job soonish.
