JUST CHANGED THE FRONT PADS ON MY MK2 PUNTO ALL GONE STRAIGHT FORWARD NO PROBLEMS , PUSHED THE PISTON BACK AND THE BRAKE FLUID LKEAKED OUT THE RESERVE , I NEVER TOOK THE TOP OFF BUT WHEN I BRAKING NOW IT FEELS VERY SOFT COULD I HAVE GOT A AIR BUBBLE SOME HOW ??? OR IS IT NORMAL TO FEEL SOFT :bang:
 
what is the correct order to bleed the brakes , guessing front to back but never had to do any before :D
 
it just dont seem to stop as quick has i thought it would think it may be worth bleeding the brakes just for piece of mind ,

your caps lock key broken :confused:

if you pushed fluid out of your bottle pushing pistons back your very unlikely to have got air in (if you had let it run empty on the other hand)


New brake pads won't stop you as quick they need to wear in abit.

normally the first (say mm) of pad material is a different compound to help bed the new disc in try doing several steady stops from 30mph to allow the disc chance to scrub up then do several emergancy stops and see if it improved..

if not what pads did you get some work better than others depending on pad compound


did you clean the discs before fitting many come coated in light machine oil to prevent rusting in transit/storage

no i never noticised that the caps lock was on then when i spotted it i coudnt be botherd to change it lmao:D:D

the pads were from a bullseye car shop and they were the only 1,s that they had ,

never changed the dics just the pads or would that be a school boy error and i should of done both at the same time ?? :confused:
 
Even with grooved discs the brake pedal should feel hard.

When the reservoir is topped up with worn pads in the brakes, fluid can overflow when new pads are fitted - there's just too much fluid.

If the pistons were pushed all the way back and the discs are worn its possible that when the pedals push the pads back to the disc the level dropped too far air got into the brakes.

Feel the disc surface. If its badly grooved or stepped at the edge its best changed before the pads bed in too much. Change both sides - about £20 each for non ventillated.
 
i did have to push the piston all the way back on both pistons has the pads were really worn down to nothing hardly on the pads

never unscrewed the top off the res the brake fluid forced itself out when the piston was pushed back i think i will get some discs next week seeing has there not that xspensive
 
Pads bed into the disc surface so will give better performance after a few miles. Sudden stops wont hep much normal use is best. Badly grooved/worn discs take longer to bed in. If discs are worn, replace them. £20 each is cheap and its an easy job.

If the pedal feels mushy you need to bleed out the air.

Of course you did make sure there are no fluid leaks and you have not got grease or brake fluid on the pads/shoes.
