Hi,
Returned from a long trip from Ireland. Unfortunately, my Clutch packed in. Needed new Clutch, payed 260 euros...ouch. The car had been running great whilst over there. On a long trip over there, I drove the car on practically no petrol, about 30 miles in the red of petrol guage. No petrol stations open on New Year's Day.
Since returning to the UK, the car has developed a rev problem. When stationary, the engine revs are up and down. Suddenly, the revs shoot up as if I am pressing the accelerator pedal down, but I'm not. Unless I tap the accelerator pedal with a jerk, the enhine over revs like mad.The tapping of the accelarator stops the over reving briefely and I'm doing this constantly. It seems to hapen whilst waiting in traffic. I have put WD40 on accelerator cable housing, close to the Carburator Housing thinking it was a sticky cable. This has obviously not sorted problem. What next?
