As stated in my previous post i have recently bought my punto mk2 active sport i want to get some new wheels on it as i think it will improve the look of the car greatly i have heard a lot of talk about the larger the wheel the more you reduce the performance of the car therefore i was thinking of getting some decent 15's and getting it dropped about 60mm, can anyone give me any advice or what might be better possibly 16's or something and whats the best thing to get to lower my punto new suspension kit or just springs PLEASE HELP!!!!
(y)

iv got 17s on mine n i think they look 100% better than 15s and if u buy 16s ur lookin to pay more for ur wheels straight up plus when u change ur tyres they r like £20 more than 17s so all round 17s r cheaper! u do lose some speed but not much u can still get up to 60 fast im well happy with my 17s!

So with the 17's would there be any problem with the arches or will they just slot straight on , and when i get it dropped will there be much trouble there at all or will it just be a sacrifices of the loved mud guards

Any reccomendations of decent 17's but not too expensive on a bit of a budget at the moment THANX FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE AND HELP!!!

15s slammed 60mm will look the ********, ignore all these people saying bigger wheels are better - it's how you use them that counts ;)

Not really, 18s and most 17s are terrible on Mk1s. Too heavy and reduces performance too much.

Over on PSC a lot of GT owners keep to 16s as it gives them plenty of grip over the standard 14s, but without losing too much power. Using 17" wheels is the equivalent of losing 30bhp, on a car that does 130bhp standard and can be lightly modded to make 160-170 that's a big difference. Why put big wheels if you'll end up being slower than a standard car :bang:

Also forgot to mention ride quality between 15s and 17s, as a comparison is much harsher on bigger wheels with a lower profile.

17s go straight on to a mk2 with no problems at all even when lowered ;)
