Hello All
I have recently bought a Punto 1.9TD HGT 2004. However, it has two warning lights on the dash which stay lit with an solid amber colour. These two warning lights say; ESP Failure and Hill Hold Failure.
I have had Kwik Fit put the car on a diagnostics test and restart the ECU; however these two warning lights remain unchanged. The diagnostics computer shows up two faults but they are 'unknown'.
Can anyone assist with what the problem/solution could be?
Thanks, John.

Hi John
I have the exact same problem. Check out my post 1 day ago called "HGT Computer messed-Up". Unfortunately the problem hasn't been resolved and I am going to try and start a thread on puntosports.co.uk about the same problem. If I do get it fixed I will let you know as soon as possible. I will appreciate it if will do the same.
Regards
Eugene

It is likely that Fiat have made it such that these fault codes can only be read by their machines. You will have to go to them for an accurate diagnosis since you could spend a fortune guessing and replacing components.

It seems as though manufacturers these days are compensating for greater mechanical reliability by filling cars with all the unreliable electronic garbage so that they can still make money fixing these instead.

Thanks! If I get an update ill keep you in the loop.

Read your thread...my air con is working fine however; the ASR isnt working either looks like we may have the same or similiar problem. Think im going to take mine to Fiat.

Hi John

The answers on Puntosports.co.uk varies from replacing the main ecu due to perhaps water damage and apparently there is a another ecu on the power steering rack that might be the cause of the CITY steering not working. Hope you come right by Fiat anyway.

I fixed a punto last year with alsorts of errors like this, EBD failure, Hill Hold Failure, ESP Failure.. and the ASR button wouldnt work eigther... turned out to be the ABS module, only fix was a new module @ £500:S..they are really rare to find in breakers as well.. looked around a few and couldnt find 1.
